Bacteriostatic Water, commonly referred to as Bac Water, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It is specifically designed for diluting or dissolving medications intended for parenteral (injection) administration. The presence of benzyl alcohol inhibits the growth of bacteria, allowing the solution to be used multiple times from the same vial under proper sterile conditions.
